Smelter Operation Readiness - Industrial Hygiene
The purpose of this position:
- Developing, implementing and evaluating industrial hygiene management according to 4 principle (anticipate, recognize, evaluate & control) based on PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI)/Freeport- Mcmoran (FCX) HS Policy & Standards and Stutory Government Regulation in Manyar Smelter (MS) & Manyar Maju Refinery (MMR).
- The key duties and responsibilities of this position:
- Developing PTFI Industrial Hygiene Policy, Procedures & Standards in accordance to FCX Health & Safety policy, procedures, standards and compliance of statutory regulation.
- Developing company Industrial Hygiene Monitoring & Measurement strategy and program, and also coordinate with all stakeholders.
- Conducting onsite internal Monitoring & Measurement and Hygiene Walkthrough survey/Inspection based on determined Similar Exposure Group in MS MMR area.
- Developing company Health Risk Assessment based on Industrial Hygiene Monitoring and Measurement Program result and collaborate with interested stakeholder and implement control based on Hierarchy Control of Hazards and in accordance to FCX Health & Safety policy, procedures, standards and compliance of statutory regulation.
- Contribute in development of PTFI Health Programs and communicating to all employees and Contractors in order to engage their participation on the implementation
- Ensure adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) provision has in accordance to its health hazard and conducting training, fit and proper test to employee in order to ensure its properly usage
- Providing Health & Safety guidance and assistance to company and all stakeholders in industrial hygiene matter to ensure understanding and implementation of health expectations.
- Maintaining document and record related to Industrial Hygiene Management and providing Industrial Hygiene regular reporting to all related stakeholder
The key challenges in this position:
- Ensuring Compliance with Regulations: There are numerous government regulations that govern Health & Safety management in Indonesia that come from difference Ministry, such as Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources, Ministry of Health and other related Ministry. As a supervisor, you need to ensure your understanding and keeping up to date to all regulations, including appropriate International Standard and implementing compliances against all of those requirements.
- Coordinate with all stakeholder: A good communiation ways to connect is a must, to deal with Internal departments in each work shift and its can be challenging due to their respectively interests and needs.
- Hazardous Environment: Smelting & Refinery operations can be dangerous, the industrial hygenist must be aware of and follow strict safety protocols when visiting and working in these environments, using specialized protective gear to ensure personal safety.
- High Pressure Work Environment: Smelting & Refinery operations are often high-pressure environments where downtime can result in significant financial losses, and as Industrial Hygenist, you may need to deal with high-pressure situations where time is of the essence. You need to be able to make quick decisions and take appropriate actions to resolve issues promptly.
- Complex Processing Plant: MS MMR is single line processing system with various specific health hazards and Potential Fatal Incidents in each plants with wide area of supervisory. This can be challengging to adapt and learn all proccess since the double flash smelter is newest technology in Indonesia and contains hazardous chemical associated with its process.
The background, education, and work experience needed to succeed in this job are:
Minimum Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's in a Health & Safety, Chemical Engineering or other related discipline
- 5+ years experience in Health & Safety related experience in mining, mineral/metal processing especially in Industrial Hygenist field
Core Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Characters) :
- Have a valid Frontline Operational Supervisor (POP) - BNSP certification.
- Have a valid Occupational Health & Safety Expert (AK3U) - BNSP or DISNAKER certification
- Have an Indonesian Middle Industrial Hygiene(HIMA) BNSP - DISNAKER Certification
- Have an International Industrial Hygienist Certification (CIH) is desireable
- Have a Train of Trainer Level 3 - BNSP or DISNAKER certification is desirable
- Strong evidence on capability of performing industrial hygiene monitoring & measurement, biological monitoring and evaluation that consist of physical, biological, chemical, ergonomy & psychology of industrial hygiene factors.
- Experienced in implementing several core industrial hygiene program such as Hearing Conservation Program (HCP), Respiratory Protection Program, Hazardous Substance Management Program, Personal Protection Equipment management program, Water and Food Safety program, etc.
- Experienced in delivering industrial hygiene awareness training e.g. manual handling, heat stress, chemical handling, PPE, respiratory protection program, hearing conservation program, etc.
- Have experience in managing Industrial Hygiene of the following field are desirable:
- Bulk materials handling (belt conveying, pneumatic conveying, milling)
- Pyrometallurgy (copper, other base metals)
- Hydrometallurgy (electrolytic refining or similar)
- Hydrometallurgy (Chemical processing, Solvent Extraction, leaching, pressure leaching, autoclave, redox reactions, precipitation)
- Gas Cleaning Circuit (Electrostatic Precipitators, scrubbers, etc.)
- Effluent Treatment
- Sulfuric Acid Plant
- SAG mill, Ball mill, Flotation
- Solid/Liquid Separation
- Mining (Washing Plant)
- Have a strong understanding regarding industrial hygiene regulation and standard based on Indonesian Statutory Regulation and International standards (ISO, SNI, OSHA, ACGIH, etc.)
- Have a good public speaking capability.
- Good english speaking skills orally and written
- Have a strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Willingness to work in team environment with culturally diversified workforces.
- Additional desirable technical skills:
- Experienced in risk-based analysis (HACCP, HRA, FMEA, RCA, Bowtie Analysis, etc.)
- Working knowledge of MS Office suites,
- Advanced data analytics (Python, Power BI, SQL, Tableau, etc)
